Alarie and Lacasse shine in Charlevoix and win the 2026 Hotel-Casino Cup
La Malbaie, September 23, 2026 – The 2026 Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup ended yesterday at the Manoir Richelieu Golf Club, where the top PGA of Québec professional teams competed in the third round of the divisional phase before facing off in the Championship and Senior category finals in the afternoon.
Played as a two-ball, best-ball match play format, the competition featured eight teams in both the Championship and Senior categories. After three rounds in their respective divisions, the teams that finished at the top of their division earned a spot in the grand final of their category.
Alarie and Lacasse Crowned Champions in the Championship Category
In the Hotel division of the Championship category, James Colin Davis and Jean-Michel Paré secured their spot in the grand final with a 3&2 victory in the third round against Benjamin Perron and Dom Lalonde, completing the division stage with a record of two wins and one tie.
In the Casino division, the stakes were just as high. Tim Alarie and Brandon Lacasse faced off against Sonny Michaud and Frédéric Raymond, with the winner of this match earning a spot in the grand final.
Alarie and Lacasse left no doubt about their intentions, dominating their match to ultimately prevail by a score of 6&5. A solid team performance secured their spot in the final and set the stage for a showdown between two pairs eager to lift the trophy.
The Championship final
After 10 holes, Alarie and Lacasse held a 5-up lead, putting Davis and Paré in a position where they absolutely had to turn the tide. The duo, however, continued to fight, and a birdie by James Colin Davis on the 12th hole narrowed the gap to 4-up.
Alarie and Lacasse, however, quickly regained control. They won the 13th hole before closing out the match on the 14th with a tie, ultimately winning 5&4.
With this victory, Tim Alarie and Brandon Lacasse are crowned champions of the Championship category at the 2026 Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup.
Boudreau and Laforce Win a Marathon Match in the Seniors Category
The competition was also particularly close in the Senior category.
In the Fairmont division, Gregg Cuthill and Martin Plante faced off against Ben Boudreau and Jean Laforce, with a spot in the grand final on the line.
Boudreau and Laforce took an early lead by winning the first three holes. Cuthill and Plante, however, fought back by winning holes 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10 to completely turn the tide.
Boudreau and Laforce then won holes 12 and 14, once again bringing the match to a nail-biting finish.
After 18 holes, the two teams were still tied. A playoff was therefore necessary to determine the finalist. In the end, Ben Boudreau and Jean Laforce won the match in the playoff hole, securing their spot in the Senior Grand Final.
In the Charlevoix division, Carl Anctil and Philippe Gariépy had a perfect divisional round, winning all three of their matches. Their record secured them a direct spot in the final.
Anctil and Gariépy Win the Senior Final
The Senior Grand Final was played over 12 holes due to the late start time, pitting the teams of Carl Anctil and Philippe Gariépy against Ben Boudreau and Jean Laforce.
Anctil and Gariépy came out strong right from the start of the final, taking a 3-up lead after the first four holes.
Boudreau and Laforce, however, refused to give up. The duo won two holes to cut the lead to just 1-up with two holes remaining.
The 11th hole would ultimately prove decisive. Anctil and Gariépy managed to save par, allowing them to maintain their lead and claim the trophy. The match ultimately ended in a 2&1 victory.
Carl Anctil and Philippe Gariépy are crowned champions of the Senior division of the 2026 Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup.
