Arie Jackman Takes the Lead After a Spectacular First Round at the Victoriaville-Fenergic Canada Cup

Victoriaville, August 13, 2026 – The first round of the Victoriaville-Fenergic Canada Cup concluded Thursday at the Victoriaville Golf Club, as the players delivered a spectacular start to this second edition of the event. With no fewer than 42 players carding a 69 (-3) or better, the competition promises to be particularly fierce over the next three rounds.

Michigan native Arie Jackman leads the standings after 18 holes. Jackman had an excellent first round, with one eagle and nine birdies, carding a 63, nine under par (-9). He holds a two-stroke lead over Cameron Pero, Dylan MacQueen, Jackson Jacob and Nicolas Marchese, who all shot 65 (-7).

Savoie and Papineau Among the Quebecers to Watch

Defending champion of the Victoriaville-Fenergic Canada Cup, Joey Savoie began his title defense with a solid round of 68 (-4). The Québec native is now among the group of players who finished the day four under par.

Savoie, however, isn’t the only Québec player making a name for himself. Étienne Papineau, one of the most anticipated Québec players this week, carded a 66 (-6) and is just three strokes behind the leader. He is tied for the lead with Jeevan Sihota, who has made two appearances on the PGA Tour this season and also shot a 66 (-6).

The top-ranked PGA of Québec member is Yohann Benson, also at 66 (-6) after his first round. Tim Alarie follows closely behind with a 67 (-5).

A Hole-in-One for Jean-Michel Paré

The first round was also marked by a spectacular feat by Jean-Michel Paré, who carded a hole-in-one on the fourth hole, a par-3 measuring 131 yards. His perfect shot added another highlight to a day already full of them.

A cut line that could be lower than in 2025

With 42 players at -3 or better after the first round, the competition promises to be particularly tight. By way of comparison, -3 was the cut line last year. If the scoring pace holds up during the next round, it’s possible that the score needed to advance to the final two rounds could be even lower this year.

The Victoriaville-Fenergic Canada Cup continues Friday with the second round, as players will try to position themselves advantageously before the cut. With only six strokes currently separating the leader from the defending champion, the race remains wide open in Victoriaville.
