PGA OF CANADA DAY OF EXCELLENCE ON THURSDAY AND OTHER ECHOES

9 1/2 WITH MARIO:
TEXT: MARIO BRISEBOIS

There are going to be more nervous golf professionals than usual on Thursday night and this
will not necessarily be for the Canadiens' first game in Montreal since last March.

January 28 is also the night of the 2020 PGA of Canada Awards of Excellence.
Pandemic obliges, presentations will be made by videoconference from Toronto instead of
Orlando manufacturers' show this year.
Working with the provinces, the PGA brought together the winners from each
section chosen in the fall.
As a reminder and with all our congratulations, the Quebec laureates in the various
categories were:

Junior Leader: Martin Morency, The Versant
Retailer of the year: Martin Bergeron, Val-Morin
Contribution to the development of golf: Duke Doucet, Summerlea
Teacher : Alexandra Pelletier, Country Club
Apprentice: Yohann Benson, Laval-sur-le-Lac
Executive : René Noel, The Mirage
Coach: Dave Hill, Elm Ridge
Pro Class A: David Tremblay, The Mirage
Professional of the year: Claude Gamache, Drummondville.

The PGA of Canada is already at work with a first step taken.
The ten provincial finalists have been reduced to three nationals.

"It is impossible to know who they are, the selection process by a secret committee " says Dominic Racine, executive director of the PGA of Quebec.

So tune in to Thursday night, 7pm for the end of the suspense.

PERSONAL NOTE

If I want my opinion on Quebec's chances, the 400 or so
Quebec pros would all deserve to be praised for contributing to the season's success
under complicated conditions with the Covid-19.

As there is no podium to contain everyone, take these thanks
as officials.

STAFF REQUESTED

The PGA of Quebec announced that the Sainte-Marguerite Club (Sept-Îles) is looking for a
professional. Same with L'Épiphanie who has to find a general manager.
