Golf and the Cataractes Join Forces to Support Academic Success
Shawinigan, August 24, 2026 – The PGA of Québec and the Shawinigan Cataractes joined forces today at the Grand-Mère Golf Club for a Pro-Am benefiting the Shawinigan Cataractes Players’ Study Fund. Held in a Vegas-style format, the event offered many golf enthusiasts a unique experience playing alongside professionals from the PGA of Québec, as well as current and former players and legends of the Shawinigan Cataractes.
Under bright sunshine, participants teed off in teams of four, each consisting of three amateurs paired with either a professional from the PGA of Québec or a current, former, or legendary player from the Shawinigan Cataractes. This format brought together two worlds that hold a significant place in Québec’s sports landscape: golf and hockey.
A day marked by competition and fun
Beyond the competition, the Pro-Am allowed participants to enjoy an exceptional day of golf in a friendly atmosphere, while directly contributing to a cause that aims to support the academic success of the Cataractes players.
At the end of the round, the winning Pro-Am team was:

An Evening to Cap Off a Great Day
After the round of golf, participants and guests headed to Ô Quai des Brasseurs, where the day continued in a festive atmosphere with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and both a silent and live auction.
These activities provided an opportunity for further interaction among fans, professionals from the PGA of Québec, and members of the extended Cats family, while helping to increase the funds raised for the Scholarship Fund.
The auction allowed participants to bid on several prizes and experiences generously donated by the event’s partners.

A special thank you to Desjardins, the event’s main partner. Thanks to its support, this fundraising event was able to take place and directly support the Players’ Scholarship Fund.

We would also like to acknowledge the invaluable collaboration of the Grand-Mère Golf Club, which welcomed the participants and made it possible to hold this event in a magnificent setting.
