The Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup Kicks Off : A First Day of Match Play Full of Twists and Turns

La Malbaie, September 21, 2026 – The Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup officially kicked off today at the Manoir Richelieu Golf Club, as the 16 participating teams of PGA of Québec professionals played their first two matches of the competition. Played under a two-ball, best-ball match play format, the Cup pits eight teams against each other in the Championship division and eight teams in the Senior division.

Before being able to take part in this prestigious competition, all teams had to go through a qualifying process. The first stage took place on May 29 at the Hériot Golf Club in Drummondville, where teams had to qualify to advance to the next round. The qualifying teams were then paired with another team in the second stage, with the winning team from each matchup earning a spot in the Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup.

A First Day of Play in Two Divisions

In each of the two categories, the eight participating teams are divided into two divisions of four teams each. Each team plays a total of three games in its division, with a points system based on results: a win is worth two points, a tie earns one point, and a loss yields no points.

At the end of the three games, the team with the most points in each division will advance to the grand final of its category. The two finalists will then face off to determine the champions of the Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup.

A golf and casino experience to kick off the week

The Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup officially kicked off on Sunday with the traditional Pro-Am, as the Casino de Charlevoix welcomed some of its best clients for a day of golf at the Manoir Richelieu Golf Club, accompanied by professionals from the PGA of Québec.

Following the round of golf, participants gathered at the Manoir Richelieu for cocktails before enjoying a buffet dinner. The evening continued with speeches and the presentation of awards to the winning Pro-Am team, allowing participants to wrap up this first day in a friendly atmosphere before the start of the Cup matches.

It’s Still Anyone’s Game

The competition continues tomorrow at the Manoir Richelieu Golf Club with the third and final match of the division phase for each team. These matches will be decisive, as the teams strive to accumulate enough points to finish at the top of their division.

At the end of this third round, the teams with the most points in each division of the Championship and Senior categories will advance to the grand finals in their respective categories. The two finals will then crown the champions of the 2026 Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix Cup.

The stage is set for a final day of competition that promises to be fiercely contested right down to the last hole.
