Request for a courtesy round

You are a member of the PGA of Québec, and you would like to play a round of golf at a course other than the one where you work. Is this possible? Is there a fee? Can I invite other people with me?

These are all good questions and in this document, you will find all the answers and most importantly, the procedures to follow in order to request a courtesy round.

Before getting to the procedures, it is important to understand the following realities:

  • No club is obligated to have a PGA professional play for free, but it is encouraged;

  • Carts are not included in a courtesy request, only golf. The club still has the privilege of offering it if they wish;

  • When making a request, it is best to do so during a less busy time for the club;

  • If you have guests who are not PGA members, they will have to pay to play. The club may offer you discounts but this is discretionary at each club;

  • It is important to understand that a club may refuse your request for many reasons, but it is desirable that there be a sense of sharing and exchange among PGA Professionals.

COURTESY ROUND PROCEDURES

  • Send an email requesting a courtesy round to the club professional (if more than one pro, ideally ask the Head Professional or Director of Golf), at least 7 days in advance;

  • Clearly state the following information in your email:
    • Full name;
    • Home club;
    • Membership status with the PGA of Québec;
    • Desired day and time of play;
    • Number of playing partners with you.

  • Present your membership card (physical or on your cell phone) at the proshop prior to your round of golf;

  • Thank the course professional who greeted you before or after your round. If the professional is not on site, a thank you email should be sent;

  • If you met the course professional on site, we still suggest that you send a thank you email within a few days.

Finally, it is important to understand that you should not abuse the privilege of having the opportunity to play courtesy rounds. Take advantage of this opportunity to visit the courses in our beautiful province but keep a reserve on the number of visits to a specific club and the number of requests per season.

ENJOY THE GOLF SEASON!!!
